Meet the brand
This Is Us
This is Us is a contemporary unisex line that is single-handedly revitalizing Nigeria’s cotton industry.
Founded by Oroma Cookey-Gam and Osione Itegboje in 2016, the brand produces the bulk of its pieces from Funtua - a unique cotton grown in the country since the 1970s. The Funtua is then hand-dyed in Kano at the centuries old Kofa Mata Dye pits. This traditional process ensures employment for the artisans who create it, and a renaissance of a lost art in Nigeria. The fabric is used to create the dynamic utilitarian separates the brand is celebrated for, as well as capsule collections with collaborators like WAF and Dye Lab. Beyond Funtua, the brand works with a host of other materials to create bags, toys, upholstery and more.
