The Alara x BkM Collaboration, launched in honor of the Africa Fashion Exhibit at Brooklyn Museum, is a capsule collection that celebrates the sartorial journey from Lagos to Kings County. Designed through cross-continental conversations with both teams, the pieces echo the energy of Brooklyn with laid back totes, tees and caps - while celebrating the lexicon of the diaspora with graphic designs that showcases popular Pidgeon English terms used in the culture. Artwork is by South African design studio, Hoick, that visualized the energetic expressions of the continent from a reverent and minimalist lens.

Founded in 2015 by businesswoman and style icon Reni Folawiyo, ALÁRA is a Lagos-based concept shop that blends fashion, design, cuisine, and culture. And here, at the Brooklyn Museum, ALÁRA is making its global debut! ALÁRA at the Brooklyn Museum gives visitors the opportunity to shop, experience and explore nearly 100 brands from over 15 countries across Africa, as well as from a selection of US-based designers within the African diaspora.
